A seasonal home maintenance checklist

Small regular checks stop little problems from becoming big repairs. Here is the list we use for our own homes.

Every spring

• Check the roof and gutters after the winter storms.
• Clean extractor fans in the kitchen and bathroom.
• Look for damp patches on walls and ceilings.

Every autumn

• Have the boiler serviced.
• Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
• Lag exposed pipes before the first frost.

Keep a note of what you find. It makes it much easier to spot when something changes.
